Lightning strikes at Fiji's Nadi International Airport caused a temporary shutdown of its landing lights, leading to flight diversions and disruptions. The incident, which occurred between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm, affected several flights, including Fiji Airways' FJ950, which initially diverted to Nausori Airport before returning to land at Nadi. Other flights impacted were FJ910, FJ262, FJ960, FJ274, Virgin Australia's VA179, and Fiji Airways' FJ460, with some redirected to Apia and others to Noumea. Two departing flights, FJ413 to Auckland and FJ915 to Sydney, were also disrupted, with FJ413 delayed and FJ915 canceled. Fiji Airports' technical response team swiftly restored the lighting system by 8:30 pm, and the authority has apologized to affected passengers while emphasizing the safety of passengers, families, airline partners, and flight crews as its top priority.
